Assembled vs. Ready to Assemble (RTA) Custom Cabinets

No time, tools, or patience to assemble your new custom cabinets? We can preassemble them for you. This additional assembly option allows you to have your cabinets ready to be installed same day they arrive.

What's the difference?

RTA (Ready to Assemble) custom cabinets are cabinet components broken down into the simplest form for a customer to assemble themselves. All the cabinet doors and drawer fronts, cabinet boxes, hardware, and drawer boxes are flat packed, and delivered in separate packages, and labeled individually on pallets. For assembled custom cabinets, each cabinet unit is preassembled by us, wrapped in protective film and corner protected before loaded in pallet crate ready for shipping. Please note that certain cabinet parts and panels will not be individually packed.

How does it affect the cost?

When choosing us to assemble your custom cabinets for you, please note that there are additional cost associated with it.

Firstly, the assembly cost of each cabinet unit. And the assembly cost is calculated and included in your individual custom item cost. In general, the custom unit price is around 12% more when "Include Assembly Service" option is selected.

Secondly, because assembled cabinets has less freight density and higher freight class comparing to flat-packed RTA cabinets (freight class 300 vs. 95), the freight shipping cost is significantly higher. As a rule of thumb, the assembled cabinets freight costs at least twice as much comparing to RTA freight. For example, if a custom order's shipping option shows $1,500 online for flat packed cabinets, the freight cost for assembled cabinets will be at least $3,000, assuming everything else being equal.
